Welcome to the web page of Chavey Down WI, Berkshire Federation!

In normal times (remember those) we meet on the 3rd Monday of the month at St Martin’s Hall in Church Road at 7.45pm.  However, we are not in normal times any more so in the true spirit of a community based organisation we have adapted to ensure Chavey Down WI remains as strong as ever despite Covid 19.

We have started outdoor coffee mornings following the latest Government Guidelines, including monthly Saturday meet ups.  Book Club is monthly and via Zoom.  In addition we communicate regularly via email and have an active Chavey Down WI Facebook Group for Members only.  The few Members not online receive regular telephone calls to keep them in touch.  In addition, our Committee has put together some excellent Goodie Bags to cheer up all Members during these unsettling times.

Although we are only just starting to meet indoors we always welcome new members so if you are interested we can be contacted via this website or the public Chavey Down WI Facebook Group.  You will be made very welcome if you wish to come to a meeting or coffee morning to suss us out first!

In the mean time please have a wander around our website – not full of events, clubs, meetings, trips and celebrations currently but starting to and it gives a flavour of what we get up to and what we hope to return to in the future, whenever that is.

***Good News! Our first full meeting to be on September 13th in St Martin’s Hall.  Colin Bird will be giving a talk on the history of Warfield Park – a tale of India, a country house, electric fish and cricket.  Please note we will be following measures to limit Covid transmission to help everyone who attends feel safe.  Doors will open at 7.45pm with a start at 8pm – please do not arrive earlier as we need time to clean and air the hall between bookings. Parking is available at St Davids and St Christophers Nursing Home, Priory Rd, Ascot SL5 8RS, a short walk away.  Please park just inside the main gate in the car park.  There is limited car parking at St Martin’s Hall so if you can use the alternative car park that would help with those who need to park close by ***
